How to Clean a Wax Melt Burner
Cleaning a wax melt burner is easiest when the wax is solid. Use the pop-out method for a quick swap, or the warm-and-wipe trick for stubborn edges.
The best method: pop-out (for most burners)
This is the cleanest way to switch scents and keep your burner dish tidy.
Turn off and cool: make sure the burner is off and the wax has fully cooled and hardened.
Loosen the edge: gently press one side of the wax with your fingertip or a tissue-wrapped thumb.
Lift it out: the wax should pop out in one piece. Bin it.
Wipe the dish: use a dry tissue/cotton pad to remove any residue.

Warm-and-wipe (for stubborn wax)
If the wax won’t budge, you only need a tiny bit of warmth to loosen the edges.
- Warm briefly: turn on for a few seconds (or light the tealight briefly), just until the edges soften.
- Turn off: remove heat source and wait a moment.
- Lift out: the wax should slide out easily.
- Wipe clean: finish with a dry tissue/cotton pad.
Cleaning tips by burner type
Tealight wax melt burners
- Let the dish cool completely before removing wax.
- If there’s soot, wipe the outside with a slightly damp cloth (then dry).
- Keep away from drafts for cleaner burning.

Electric / plug-in / touch burners
- Unplug before cleaning and let everything cool.
- Wipe the dish after removing wax (avoid soaking electrical parts).
- Check your burner’s instructions for bulb type/wattage if applicable.

What not to do
- Don’t pour wax down the sink: it can clog pipes once it cools.
- Don’t scrape aggressively: it can scratch the dish.
- Don’t clean hot wax: wait until it’s safe and stable.
- Don’t soak electrical parts: wipe only, and keep moisture away from wiring.
